Muscles are made up of tiny fibres (sarcomeres) sometimes through injury or overstimulation sarcomeres are unable to let go of contraction this creates a "knot" Muscle shorten they form a tight band , this decreases blood supply to the sight, oxygen depletion, without pumping through blood supply waste products also accumulate , irritated nerves cause pain, this activates pain patterns , i.e

when active you may feel pain down your arm but the trigger point is active on your back. These are charted for therapist. Trigger Points can be released through massage and other modalities. Through pressure on the TP.

You can also work on these yourself with balls ( raquet balls, spikey balls) , foam rollers and other massagers.
